Vietnam Facility

The Vietnam Facility is a grant scheme set up to encourage partnership projects in Vietnam in the following sectors:

  • Agriculture
  • Health care
  • Water management
  • Private sector development

 The purpose of the Vietnam Facility is to intensify relations between the Netherlands and Vietnam by means of Human Resources Development (HRD) activities, such as scientific and technological collaboration, knowledge transfer, training and work placement. HRD is a key factor in the economic growth of countries and the development of relations between them. In addition to transferring knowledge and skills, HRD helps to build personal networks and alliances across a wide range of different fields. Such personal contacts and networks, in turn, help to enhance social and political ties and lead to economic cooperation.

The Vietnam Facility is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is administered by governmental agency EVD.

Who may apply?

In every project, at least one Dutch and one Vietnamese knowledge institute (university, technical school, vocational college or research institute) should be involved. Involvement of the private sector in the programme will be encouraged. The Dutch party in the consortium will be authorized by the other project partners to submit the application and act as the main supervisor. This party, also the grant recipient, will be responsible for project implementation.

Main requirements

  • The project theme must involve one (or more) of the above mentioned sectors;
  • There is a clear demand for the activities involved from the Vietnamese side;
  • The project must have both a training/technology component and an economic/social development component;
  • Proof of guaranteed contributions by third parties;
  • The project duration is a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 2 years;
  • The project proposal shows how the results are durable and contribute to the long-term development of a specific sector;
