Romanian market prospect:
The Social Democratic Party and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats formed a government in January 2017, after winning 250 seats in the 465-seat parliament in the December 2016 election. The government provoked mass protests when it tried to change the law on corruption offences. Its legitimacy is now in question but it will benefit from the weakness of the opposition. We forecast a growth slowdown in 2017, after real GDP growth of 4.8% in 2016, and average annual growth of 3.5% in 2017-21.
