Turkish market prospect
The failed coup in July 2016 and the government’s uncompromising response have allowed the president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to tighten his grip on power, using emergency rule to purge the state of suspected members of the Gulenist movement, silence critical media and crush the pro-Kurdish political opposition. Parliament has approved a plan to transfer executive power to the president. It will be put to a referendum on April 16th 2017. Political instability risks disrupting economic growth.
