Water offers many possibilities, from transport and irrigation to drinking water and with that it is one of the prerequisites of economic growth. A shortage of water can be detrimental, for instance for agriculture. The Netherlands has a strong developed water management sector, however, in many other countries this sector is underdeveloped. Frequent floods in India and Thailand or the bad drinking water facilities in Africa are just several examples. The experience and expertise of Dutch companies in the field of water management such as with the construction of dykes, canals and floodgates are vital for these countries. Therefore there are a lot of opportunities for Dutch companies to share their knowhow here.
