As part of the PPP Netherlands-Myanmar Poultry Cooperation, Larive-Thura Swiss, in cooperation with Aeres, the Myanmar Livestock Federation and Yezin University, organized a training program on improving food safety in Myanmar broiler value chain.
Netherlands-Myanmar Poultry Cooperation
The Netherlands-Myanmar Poultry Cooperation, a consortium of leading companies and knowledge institutes from the Netherlands is committed to strengthen the poultry sector in Myanmar, in close cooperation with their local counterparts. The project team organized training sessions for 2 groups:
- Group I: Monday 25 – Friday 29 March 2019 in the Yangon/Bago region.
- Group II: Monday 17 – Friday 21 June 2019 in the Mandalay region.
Transport of DOC from hatcheries to farmers
The first section was mainly intended for hatchery farm managers, transport partners and broiler farm managers, sharing related subjects on hatching, quality of DOC, transport of DOC and hygiene, brooding of broiler and uses of additives/antibiotics with practical lesson on DOC quality. DOCs were supplied for practical lessons and every participant conducted a group activity of chick quality score and other ways measuring DOC weight and length, how to handle the chick, how to differentiate male and female chicks, how to calculate yolk free body mass, etc., under the guidance of broiler trainers from Aeres.
Transport of DOC from hatcheries to farmers
The second section was focused on the preparation before and after catching broilers, ways of broiler catching and loading, transport of broiler, food safety issues of broiler production, and marketing of meat and meat products with practical lessons on carcasses. Broiler carcasses have been provided for practical lessons and trainees and trainers from Aeres discussed about related subjects on broiler meat in practice.
In both regions 25 trainees have been selected from various parties, including hatcheries, broiler farms, transport companies and slaughterhouses.
