GLOBALG.A.P. certification for demonstration greenhouse in Myanmar
The demonstration greenhouse in Heho, Shan State, Myanmar is now awarded by the GLOBALG.A.P. certification for Crops for Processing (CfP).
Since 2015 a Dutch consortium consisting of Larive International (together with its Myanmar-based affiliate Thura Swiss), Rijk Zwaan, Koppert, Priva, VEK and Delphy invested in strengthening the horticultural sector in Myanmar. Together they have set up a demonstration greenhouse of 3,000 m² in Heho, Shan State, Myanmar, to demonstrate best practices in the field of horticulture. Vegetable farmers from Southern Shan State are being trained by Dutch horticulture experts to improve their practices.
Products from the greenhouse are supplied to leading retail chains such as City Mart and Metro, including bell peppers, tomatoes and various types of lettuce and herbs. The demonstration greenhouse shows international best practices in the field of horticulture and acts as training location. Furthermore, the consortium works closely together with local public agencies and private associations, including the Myanmar Fruit, Flower and Vegetable Producer and Exporter Association and the State Agriculture School in Heho, to transfer knowledge within the sector.
The consortium Greenhouse was supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and developed a partnership within the framework of the develoPPP.de program of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Fresco is certified with the GLOBALG.A.P. Crops for Processing Standard (CfP). This is a standard for crops that are grown to be used for further processing. The CfP Standard covers crops that are slated to be frozen, juiced, used to make pre-cooked meals, and used for animal feed, among other types of processing.
Obtaining the certificate means that Fresco meets the requirements of GLOBALG.A.P. established requirements in the field of hygiene, health, safety, quality control, processing and storage areas, and crop protection.
Matthias Brienen, Director of Larive International: “Being awarded the GLOBALG.A.P. certification is a big achievement for Fresco Myanmar and will definitely support the company with further developing its business. Implementing higher standards is key for the Myanmar horticulture sector to unlocking access to higher value-added markets and attract (foreign) investments”
