Background
Gil Wakenge is an Emerging Markets Advisor at Larive International. He works on agrifood and sustainable business assignments across Africa and Asia, including Vietnam, Côte d’Ivoire and Uganda. His work covers market intelligence, value chain analysis, investment cases and project coordination for companies active in emerging markets.
Before joining Larive, Gil worked at citizenM hotels, where he turned customer and performance data into priorities for commercial and product teams. Earlier, at De Heus Animal Nutrition, he assessed Uganda’s animal feed market and developed a market entry assessment for expansion into the Ugandan feed sector.
Gil combines agrifood knowledge, business analysis and emerging market experience. Born in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and educated in Uganda and the Netherlands, he brings regional understanding and fluency in English, French and Swahili.

- Wageningen University & Research: Master’s degree in Business Economics, focusing on agri‑food value chains, business performance and sustainability.
- Ndejje University (Uganda): Bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Agriculture, focused on agricultural production systems, farm economics and value chains in emerging markets.
