Peter Rasmussen of Director Larive Group – Asia Base in an interview: “Asia Base helps foreign companies establish and grow low-cost-low-risk businesses in China, that can compete both locally and internationally. We do this by offering straightforward localized advice on strategy and structure as well as legal and practical project support. Since 1994 we have helped over 300 clients establishing wholly foreign-owned subsidiaries and joint ventures – greenfield, brownfield, and through M&A in China. We have also assisted 100’s of existing foreign companies already operating in China expanding and restructuring their businesses to better meet legal and commercial opportunities and challenges in the ever-changing and fast-moving market place.”
Chinese market prospect:
The president, Xi Jinping, has aggressively accumulated power and succeeded in removing the term limit for his office. However, his centralisation of authority creates the risk of policy missteps and leaves him exposed if the economy underperforms. We have revised our forecast to now expect US-China trade tensions to escalate into an outright “trade war.” As a result, we have lowered our forecast for real GDP growth to 6.6% in 2018 (from 6.7% previously) and to 6.2% in 2019 (from 6.4%).
